After winning the Afternoon Summer 2006 Shiki Grand Prize for her submitted work "Insects and Songs'', she made her debut with "Hoshi no Koibito''. Her first collection of works, "Insects and Songs: A Collection of Haruko Ichikawa'', won the 14th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award New Life Award. Her second work, "25 o'clock Vacation: Haruko Ichikawa's Works 2'' was selected as 5th place in the Manga Taisho 2012. For both works, Mr. Ichikawa himself handled the book bindings. "Land of the Lustrous'' is currently being serialized in Afternoon.
