A girl who went to Italy caught her dream and became a ?gpainter?h who transcended genres.
Oil paintings, watercolors, illustrations, manga...A first collection of works that traces the trajectory from childhood origins to new manga!

This is the first collection of works by Mari Yamazaki, who has majored in oil painting and art history at the Accademia Fine Arts Academy in Florence, Italy since 1984, and has been active as a manga artist and writer since 1998.

We have selected representative works from his childhood growing up in Hokkaido, his time studying abroad, and up to the present day.

We also feature many manuscripts of manga works such as "Thermae Romae,'' a manga that won both the 2010 Manga Award and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Short Story Award and became a hot topic in Japan, "Pliny'' (co-authored by Tori and Miki), which won the 2024 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award Grand Prize, and the currently serialized "Zoku Thermae Romae.''

As works by portrait painters, oil portraits of Mr. Tatsuro Yamashita, Rakugo storyteller Mr. Shinosuke Tachikawa, and Joruri puppet master Mr. Kanjuro Kiritake are included.
At the end of the book, there is also an 18,000-character conversation with Tatsuro Yamashita and the drawings for the album "SOFTLY".
