Categories:Creators' Artworks

A retrospective that traces the trajectory of Masahisa Fukase, who was active from the 1960s to the early 1990s, and touches on his unique world.

Masahisa Fukase's deep perspective on his personal life earned him a unique position in the history of Japanese photography in the 1960s.
It was also an act of searching for the origin of photography, and it was later called "personal photography'' and developed as one of the main forms of expression that photographers pursued.
Fukase points his camera at people close to him, such as his wife and family, and while exposing his private life, he focuses on the madness that lurks within himself.
The madness is a mixture of a loving gaze toward the subject and a humorous lightness that makes Fukase's work special and unique.
This book contains a rich collection of works such as the representative works "Yugi'', "Yoko'', "Crow'', "Sasuke'', "Kazoku'', and "Bukubuku'' in a handy format.

"I never think that I can capture a certain object by photographing it.What is important to me is how far I can go into it.How much of myself can be reflected in it.The act of looking into the viewfinder itself I want it to be something fleshed out. I can't help but feel like I can use photography more freely. I think I can relate to my entire existence.''
