About the Author
Dr. Seuss
Real name: Siodo Seuss Geisel. Born in Massachusetts, USA in 1904. His picture books are characterized by simple, rhythmic language, and often contain humorous and whimsical stories. His many Japanese translations include "Hatching an Egg by Horton the Elephant'', "Hatching an Egg by Horton the Elephant'', and "500 Mysterious Hats'' (both published by Kaiseisha). He received the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award in 1980 and the Pulitzer Prize Special Award in 1984. Died in 1991.

Translated by Hiromi Ito
Born in 1955. His books include "La Ni?a'' (Noma Literary Newcomer Award), "Thornetsu Shinsugamo Jizo Engi'' (Hagiwara Sakutaro Award and Murasaki Shikibu Literary Award), "Ito Hiromi's Tobisho'', and "Someday I'll Die, Until Then I'll Live My Sutra''.
