Categories:Art

A detailed introduction to 30 paintings of Edo period painter Ito Jakuchu's representative work "Douge Ayae.''

Ito Jakuchu was a Kyoto painter during the mid-Edo period. His paintings are known for their solitary existence, and are well-known for their beautiful colors and detailed drawing style, which can be described as "before Jakuchu, there is no Jakuchu, and after Jakuchu, there is no Jakuchu.'' This book introduces in detail all 30 of his masterpieces, "Douge Ayae.'' His paintings have attracted attention in recent years, not only because of his relentless attention to detail, but also because of his outstanding design sense, which is how he arranges the animals and plants that are the subjects of his paintings within the canvas. It's only because we do it. Also, one of the highlights of this book is the picture scroll "Kasamushifu,'' which was recently discovered for the first time in 70 years and whose entire story is being published for the first time in the magazine. This is a long-awaited book that clearly conveys Jakuchu's descriptive ability, design ability, and composition.
