Yuji Katagiri (Hiroshi Katagiri)
Born in Tokyo. Hollywood film and television character designer and sculptor.
Participated in many films by famous directors such as Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro, and Sam Raimi. His major works include "Pacific Rim,'' "Man of Steel,'' "Battleship,'' "A Nightmare on Elm Street,'' "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Fountain of Life,'' "The Hunger Games,'' and "Captain Marvel.''
In recent years, sculpture seminars have been held in various places in Japan to foster young artists. He influenced not only sculptors but also CG artists and other creators in various fields, and more than 10,000 participants learned sculpting from Mr. Katagiri.
His book "Anatomy Sculpting: Yuji Katagiri Modeling Techniques'' has become an unusual bestseller as an art book, and "Animal Modeling: Animal Modeling Anatomy'' is also a one-of-a-kind animal modeling book. Now on sale.
