Director Kon's last work was the feature-length animation "Paprika'' based on the original work by Yasutaka Tsutsui.
This film, the fourth full-length film released in 2006, captured the hearts of viewers with its many scenes depicting metamorphosis, which is the essence of animation, and was invited to many film festivals and won various awards. was awarded.
The story is set in the near future, where Atsuko Chiba, who has two roles: a genius psychotherapist who uses the dream-sharing device DC Mini, and a dream detective, Paprika, uses the DC Mini to forcibly intervene in the dreams of others. Born in Hokkaido in 1963.
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Visual Communication Design.
As a manga artist, published the books "Kaikisen'' (1990) and "World Apartment Horror'' (1991, both published by Kodansha).
Shifted his focus from manga to the animation industry and made his directorial debut in 1998 with the feature film Perfect Blue.
Since then, the director's original films "Millennium Actress'' (2002) and "Tokyo Godfathers'' (2003), the TV series "Delusion Agent'' (2004), and in 2006, the movie "Paprika'' based on the original work by Yasutaka Tsutsui were released. In 2007, the short anime "Ohayo" was broadcast on NHK Anime*Cli 15.
As part of my work other than directing, I published a book called "KON'S TONE: The Road to becoming a Millennium Actress" (2002, published by Shobunsha/2013, published by Fukkan.com), which is a collection of texts written for websites. , curator of the NHK program "Digistar'' and lecturer at vocational school "Art College Kobe.''
