J.C. Leyendecker, who created numerous works during the Golden Age of American Illustration and was one of the most popular artists, won the hearts of the public with his stylish and impressive depictions of handsome men and glamorous women. is. This pattern, also known as the Leyendecker Look, is instantly recognizable and helped create the face of the United States, giving birth to many designs that are still known today and creating a brand identity in advertising. I decided to do it. However, until now, not much is known about the person behind the art. The illustrations drawn by Leyendecker, who was called "The Master of Magazine Covers'' by Norman Rockwell and later admired, graced the covers of all major magazines. In advertising, his works supported a wide range of products, from cutting-edge men's clothing to Ivory soap and Kellogg's Corn Flakes. But perhaps his best-known portrait is of the Arrow Collar Man, who became the first male sex symbol and the first advertising star to be popular with both sexes. The image of this refined and elegant gentleman touched the hearts of millions of people who saw him, and sold a luxurious lifestyle to a frenzied society. However, few people know that the model for this arrow-colored man was Charles Beach, Leyendecker's longtime lover. To avoid public scrutiny over his homosexuality, Leyendecker did not discuss details of his private life. This book, along with more than 600 original drawings, photographs, advertisements, and magazine covers by Leyendecker, thoroughly unravels many mysteries that have remained unsolved to this day, and exposes the true nature of Leyendecker.
