[About the author]
Omotesenke school, former head of Horiuchi Choseian. Born in Kyoto in 1919. Graduated from the Faculty of Science at Kyoto Imperial University in 1944, and was an assistant there.
In February 1946, he took over Chosei-an upon the death of his eldest brother, Sokan Yuminesai. In April of the same year, he entered Omotesenke Fushinan and studied under the predecessor of Omotesenke, Sokuchusai, as an apprentice. In December of the same year, he received the title of Kenchusai from Kenninji Takeda Isshu Ryodaishi.
In 1953, succeeded to the name of the 12th Horiuchi Sokan. In 1997, his nephew Kunihiko Horiuchi succeeded Sokan and took the name Soshin. 1999 Receives a biography from the head of the Senke school. Even now, as an important figure in the Omotesenke school, he is active in offering tea and teaching in various places.
