THE SOLITARY CASTLE IN THE MIRROR

Categories:Modern Novels

I want to help you.

One day, Kokoro, who had lost his place at school and shut himself away, suddenly saw the mirror in his room begin to glow. What I found after passing through the shining mirror was a mysterious castle-like building. Seven people with similar circumstances to Kokoro were gathered there. Why are these seven people here? Why are they here? When everything becomes clear, you will be overwhelmed with surprise and great emotion.
A story for all those who find life difficult. The author's masterpiece, which is a must-read.

An out-of-school child who pursues mysteries in the world of mirrors. A story of salvation in which the eyes of adults and children coexist
< br>This is the first time I've ever read a novel that so comforted and encouraged both my current adult self and my childhood self at the same time. I am talking about Mizuki Tsujimura's new work, "Kagami no Solitary Castle''.

Kokoro, a first year junior high school student, is unable to go to school due to a certain incident and spends all his time at home. One day, when he was alone at home, the mirror in his room suddenly began to glow, and when he looked through it, he found himself inside the castle. Seven middle school students, including Kokoro, who seemed to be in similar circumstances were gathered. At the castle, where they are allowed to stay from 9 o'clock to 17 o'clock, they are given one task. The grace period is one year. Although they are confused, the seven people gradually begin to communicate with each other, but...

The setting in which a boy and girl pursue a mystery in a building in another world is the same as the author's debut novel, "Time Stops in a Cold School Building.'' Ah, it's been a long time since I wrote a youth novel like the one I wrote in my early days...I thought to myself as I read on. Rather than reminding myself that I too was hurt in this way during my adolescence, I am amazed at the skill of the depiction, which makes me realize that this is the kind of thing that hurt me back then. But along the way, I realized there was more to it than that. This is a work that can only be written by the author now, who has not lost the feelings of those days, and who now has the eyes of an adult. What makes me tearful is how the confusion, anger, and joy of a mother trying to understand her daughter is clearly conveyed through the eyes of an unconscious mind. Not only what children want from adults, but also what adults feel about children can be expressed so skillfully.

Everyone, both adults and children, is trying to build relationships. That part alone is enough to keep you reading, but of course the mystery part is also excellent, and the final part, when all the secrets of the castle are revealed, is a series of surprises. That is another heart-wrenching truth. This is a book that makes you realize that people can truly be saved when they change from being on the side of seeking salvation to being on the side of saving.
