Ensemble Studio is an architectural unit based in Spain and the United States. Japan's first collection of works by an architect who pursues the possibilities of architecture, focusing on a global perspective, powerful forms that resonate with nature, and unique construction methods. A book with the theme of "architecture of the earth" that explains the research, design, and construction processes in an easy-to-understand manner using photos, illustrations, and text. About the author
Ensemble Studio is a cross-functional team founded in 2000 and led by architects Anton Garcia-Abril (born 1969) and Deborah Mesa (born 1981). Their work balances research and practice, innovating typologies, techniques, and methodologies to tackle challenges as diverse as landscape construction to housing prefabrication. All of their projects, from their earliest works to their most recent, are practical experiments aimed at further advancing the field they work with and the role of architects in society. Their work combines art, science, construction, development and design to explore how ideas can best be translated into form. In recent years, Garcia-Abril has taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Mesa has taught at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His representative works include "Structures of Landscape'' (Tippett Rise Art Center, Montana, USA, 2016) and "Can Terra (House of the Earth)'' (Menorca, Spain, 2018~), and major awards include the RIBA Charles Jencks Award (2019).
