About the author
Illustrator and graphic designer. Born in Nagoya in 1934. Graduated from the design department of Nagoya City Crafts High School. Freelance after working at Calpis Food Industries, Nippon Design Center, and Studio Illufil. He has won the Nissenbi Special Selection, the Nissenbi Members Award, the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award, the Sanrio Art Award, the Red Bird Illustration Award, the Japan Picture Book Award, and the Yamana Prize in the Japan Publicity Award. Received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1999. 2010 Received the Order of the Rising Sun with Small Cordon.
