Won the Afternoon Shiki Award (Shiki Award) for "Dot Realm'' in 1994 while a student at university. When the same work was published in Monthly Afternoon, he took his first step as a manga artist.
Genshiken, which has been serialized since 2002 and depicts the youth of an otaku student in a comical way, has become a big hit. A total of 21 volumes, including the second part, have been published, and are recognized by both himself and others as the masterpiece of his career.
Following works include "Jigopuri,'' which is a reflection of her own experiences raising children, "Spotted Flower,'' which depicts a tense love story set in a world similar to "Genshiken'' but different, and "Hashikko Ensemble,'' which takes on new challenges with the theme of high school chorus. While currently focusing on the serialization of "Spotted Flower,'' which is reaching its climax, he is also active in various fields.
