About the author
A manga artist known as the "KING OF STREET COMIC." Born in Paris, France in 1968. In 1989, he made his debut as a manga artist by winning the Young Sunday Newcomer Award for "Madaa''. The newly illustrated book "TOKYO TRIBE'', published in 1993, has been such a long-seller that it continues to be released even after changing publishers. The sequel, "TOKYO TRIBE 2,'' was serialized in the fashion magazine "BOON'' and became such a huge hit that it was translated and published in many countries around the world.In 2006, it was made into an anime and broadcast on WOWOW. In the summer of 2014, a live-action film of "TOKYO TRIBE 2'' directed by Sion Sono was released, and it attracted attention as it starred actor Ryohei Suzuki and rapper YOUNG DAIS. Another masterpiece, Neighbor No. 13, was made into a live-action film starring Shun Oguri and Shido Nakamura in 2005, which was released in theaters and released on DVD. All two volumes of the book ?gMotesuke?h are now on sale from Akita Shoten. The latest work in the series, "TOKYO TRIBE WARU'', was serialized in "Bessatsu Young Champion'' (Akita Shoten) from 2016 to 2020, and all 4 volumes are on sale from Akita Shoten. Currently based in LA, he is serializing the essay comic "LA LIFE'' in an American free paper (scheduled to be released as a book by G.O.T. in November under the title "Santa's LA Life''), and is preparing to serialize his next work, a suspense/horror series for the first time in a while. In addition to manga, he has a wide range of activities, and has also established the wear brand "SANTASTIC! WEAR'' and the toy brand "SANTASTIC! GANGU,'' which he produces, and opened the head shop "SANTASTIC!'' in Shibuya in 2002. With a deep love for black music, he hosted the event "SARU NIGHT" as a DJ and also directed the CD "Drivin' Wiz My Homies" series (Universal Music).
