Philipp Weisbecker Works Collection

Review(0)

Categories:Creators' Artworks

An overwhelming collection of works that approaches the essence of the simple beauty of everyday life!

Since his first solo exhibition in Japan in 2000, Philipp Weisbecker has expanded his fan base in Japan. This is a collection of works that can be said to be the culmination of works that have been created for half a century, including approximately 700 works from 2000 onwards. Focusing on unique perspective works drawn in pencil, three-dimensional works are also introduced in 12 categories. There is also a wealth of coverage of Parisian ateliers, collections that serve as sources of inspiration, and long interviews. The art direction was by Kaoru Kasai, a friend of mine since his first solo exhibition in Japan.

Review
"Tracing the dates of individual works, the reader can follow the artist through two decades as his attention shifts from one set of objects to the next and, as often as not, back again. "-- "Interwoven: the fabric of things"
Excerpt
[Excerpt from the interview] This book is a recollection of a twenty-year journey through my artistic life. I view my drawings as vehicles to contemplate what lies beyond the ordinary. All along, my work has been focusing more and more on the essential, chipping away the superfluous. So when people tell me my drawings help them appreciate the beauty of simple things, I realize I have been able to share my vision.
