The theme of this 360??BOOK is the sparrow dance depicted in Hokusai's manga.
"Sparrow Dance'' is a traditional dance that literally imitates the movements of a sparrow.
It is said that this dance began a long time ago when stonemasons from Senshu and Sakai performed an impromptu dance at a banquet for the moving ceremony of Sendai Castle.
Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) featured this "sparrow dance'' in the third part of his picture book, Hokusai Manga, in which people wearing yakusu costumes and hats play shamisen. The figure is depicted dancing to the song with a touch that looks like it's about to start moving.


[What is 360??BOOK]
"360??BOOK" is a never-before-seen book devised by the author who is also an architect.
Rather than turning the pages one by one, you can open them 360 degrees in a circular motion to reveal a diorama.
The series of delicately cut pages invites the viewer from a two-dimensional to a three-dimensional world.


"Sparrow Dance" is one of traditional footman dances performed by dancers literally imitating sparrows' movements.
It is considered to have originated from an improvised dance performed by stonemasons from Sakai in the Senshu< br>region at a banquet celebrating the relocation of Sendai Castle.
Hokusai Katsushika (1760?1849) featured this "Sparrow Dance" in the third volume of "Hokusai Manga", one of his
etehon (art manual) moving series.
Hokusai's lively brush strokes vividly capture dance movements of people wearing footman's kimonos and hats, looking
as if they are going to start at any moment.
