Categories:Architecture

A ?gdrawing collection?h of beautiful sustainable architecture

This book is the first drawing collection in Japan by Australia's leading architect Glenn Murcutt (1936-). Murcutt, who won the Pritzker Prize, also known as the Nobel Prize of architecture, in 2002 and is highly acclaimed around the world, has created more than 500 buildings in Australia over 40 years of design activity. Murcutt's architecture not only has a beauty backed by minute details, but is also carefully considered as a "spatial device (contraption)'' that creates a rich living space in response to the natural environment.
Murcutt thinks about architecture only from drawings, without making models, and draws almost all the drawings himself. This book introduces 13 of his representative works through a variety of drawings, from early stage sketches to detailed drawings at the construction stage. The drawings shown in this book are a journey of architectural discovery for Murcutt, who says, "Architecture is the process of discovery itself.''
The simultaneously published work collection "The Architecture of Glenn Murcutt'' will introduce photographs of the 13 works featured in this book.
