About the author
Born on September 3, 1929 in Kobe City. The following year, he moved to Aomori Prefecture. He spent his elementary and junior high school years in Hyogo Prefecture again, where he encountered an air raid. The war ends in Aomori Prefecture. After graduating from Aomori Prefectural High School, he studied under the painter Sosei Abe and the sculptor Keiji Kosaka. In 1950, entered the Department of Western Painting at Musashino Art School (currently Musashino Art University). In his third year, he transferred to the sculpture department and studied under Takashi Shimizu. In 1954, he worked part-time as a part-time worker on the set of Toho's "Godzilla,'' and entered the world of special effects movies.While continuing to exhibit at the Shinsei Kyokai Exhibition as a sculptor, he worked on many special effects scenes for movies. Became special effects art director at Toei in 1960. In 1962, Yata won the New Artist Award at the 26th New Production Association Exhibition and became a member of the group. In 1965, he signed a contract with Tsuburaya Tokugi Productions, where he designed monsters, aliens, and mechanics for Ultra Q, Ultraman, Ultra Seven, and Mighty Jack, as well as all special skills. Left Tsuburaya Productions in 1968. Since then, he has been in charge of display design, stage production, television, and film special effects. Designed the Tree of Life inside Taro Okamoto's Tower of the Sun at the 1970 Japan World Exposition. Established "Mo-Buru'' in 1969, and was in charge of character design and other special skills for "Assault! Human!!''. Solo exhibition at Forum Roppongi Annex in 1983. In the same year, the art book was published by Asahi Sonorama. In 1990, he created Monument to Demons in Oe-cho, Kyoto Prefecture (now Fukuchiyama City). The following year, "Gallery Uwa'' was opened in Ginza, Tokyo (until 1992). In 1994, he created a relief of a demon for the Kitakami City Demon House. "Special Effects and Monsters'' was published by Film Art Company in 1996, and "Special Effects Art'' was published by the same company the following year. In 1999, exhibited at the "Japan Year Zero'' exhibition organized by Noi Sawaragi, held at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Art Tower Mito. In the same year, Aomori Prefecture purchased 189 original designs related to Ultra. It became part of the collection of the Aomori Museum of Art, which opened in 2006. Died on February 26, 2002 due to multiple cerebral infarctions. He passed away at the age of 72.
