Marugoto is about people and This textbook aims to help people understand each other while actually communicating in Japanese. Each topic depicts a situation where people from diverse cultural backgrounds interact in Japanese, and there are hints for understanding different cultures in various places such as the content of the conversations, photographs, and illustrations. It also emphasizes the role of audio input in language learning, and includes many classroom activities that involve listening to natural conversations. ?gRather than explaining detailed grammar in words, we have realized an active class where students learn through direct experience?h I'm using it in class. In the 1st and 2nd semesters, students learn basic grammar using different textbooks, and from the 3rd semester onward, they begin using Marugoto's Beginner 2 (A2) to acquire more advanced Japanese proficiency. After you have already acquired a certain level of language knowledge, the "Marugoto'' series is very useful for solidifying basic knowledge and promoting its development. Rather than explaining detailed grammar in words, we provide active lessons that allow students to gain experience through direct experience.

From an academic (teacher's) point of view, what I feel is the best thing is that the textbook has only the bare minimum of grammar explanations. In "Marugoto,'' students acquire a sense of "in what situation, what kind of feeling, and what message should each grammar be used to convey?'' through topics, while actually imagining and experiencing the situation. You can continue to do so. Teachers can also convey the sense and logic of grammatical structures more flexibly according to the level, experience, and cultural background of the learners. Instead, teachers are required to have the ability to clearly and logically convey the knowledge they have accumulated and their feelings as native speakers, but the conversations and exercises in the Marugoto textbook are extremely important. The questions are very well thought out, allowing you to pick up on grammar points and differences in meaning and nuance that teachers might otherwise miss.
Another good thing about Marugoto is that it makes it easy for teachers to adjust the amount of input and output when there are students of various levels in the class. It is designed to be easy for teachers to devise so that they can communicate as much as possible with Japanese people on the topic according to their level.

Marugoto is a coursebook for adult learners of Japanese that is based on the JF Standard* for Japanese Language-Education. Learners at Pre-Intermediate level (A2/B1) can express themselves concerning a range of matters directly related to their backgrounds and daily lives.
