About the Author
Born in Akita Prefecture in 1960 Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Fine Arts in 1983. In the 1980s, worked mainly on illustrations for corporate advertisements. From the early 1990s, he began illustrating novels under the influence of late 19th century art and ukiyo-e. In addition to this, he creates original works of fantasy aesthetics under the label "Heisei Aestheticism.'' Since then, he has continued his ambitious activities, including publishing numerous art books such as "Scarlet Maniera'' and "Divertimento for Martyrs'' (editions treville), creating "Phantom Peephole'' and "In the Garden with Goats'' (published by Geijutsu Shinbunsha), creating cover art and illustrations, and holding solo exhibitions. Member of the International Ukiyo-e Society.
