Where did Issey come from? Issey Miyake's people and work
Categories:Art
Designer Issei Miyake has consistently created products that change the concept of clothing from a unique perspective.
A newly written 9th chapter has been added to the 8 chapters of Kazuko Koike's essays included in the culmination book "Issey Miyake'' (planned and edited by Midori Kitamura) released by Taschen in 2016. A great book to read.
The author, who has known Miyake since his student days, watched his remarkable achievements and various activities that went beyond just manufacturing from a special distance, and has been involved in them, will be able to describe his work and personality as a contemporary. The book is finished with a text rich in meaning that is typical of Koike.
In addition, Koike's unique expression and perspective, which continues to support Japanese creativity, skillfully depicts the sense of the times, centering on Miyake, creating interesting works as documentaries.
Each chapter includes approximately 30 color illustrations from the invitations for the Issey Miyake Paris Collection created by Tadanori Yokoo between 1977 and 1999.
This is a book that shines with Katsumi Asaba's skill, pairing the vertically written Japanese text with the solid feel of letterpress printing and the baptized horizontally written English text.
?Japanese-English double-sided cover (paper pasted and foil stamped)
?Completely bilingual (Japanese: vertical typesetting, letterpress printing)
Issei Miyake Designer
Born in Hiroshima in 1938 . Graduated from Tama Art University. In 1970, Miyake Design Office was established. Participated in the Paris Collection since 1973. As a clothing designer, since the beginning of my career, I have continued my creative activities by questioning the relationship between the body and cloth, with the basic idea of ??"a single piece of cloth.'' The company's approach to manufacturing has remained consistent to this day: creating ideas that are free from outside the box and turning them into reality through a process of persistent research and experimentation.
