Issei Miyake is a designer who integrates various genres such as graphics, sculpture, and textiles, and uses "clothes" as a medium of expression as the design closest to the human body. While inheriting the foundations of Japanese clothing culture, we continue to introduce completely new clothing by discovering and creating new "forms" and developing new materials by researching cutting-edge technology and fibers with the team we lead. We have been creating products for comfortable everyday life that bring excitement and joy to people.
In March 2016, the "MIYAKE ISSEY Exhibition: The Work of Issey Miyake" was held at the National Art Center, Tokyo (Tokyo). This exhibition reveals Issey Miyake's thinking and design approach to "manufacturing'' through his work from his early days to his latest projects.
This book, which is an official illustrated catalog and book, has all the "clothes" on display taken by photographer Misagi Iwasaki. In addition, innovative visuals such as Tokujin Yoshioka's "Grid Body" installation and collaboration with Kotaro Sekiguchi's artwork will be exhibited. This book is a book that allows you to learn about Issey Miyake's main work, while at the same time rediscovering his charm from its roots. Designer Issey Miyake's "manufacturing'' is filled with constant questions about the future, such as "How can design contribute to modern society?''
