About the author
John Gauntner
Born in 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Graduated from the University of Cincinnati, Department of Electrical Engineering. In 1988, he came to Japan as an English teacher for the JET Program sponsored by the Ministry of Education (at the time). After working as an electronic engineer, since 1998 he has been devoting himself to promoting sake overseas. To date, he has written a series of columns on sake in magazines such as The Japan Times and Yomiuri Shimbun, and has contributed numerous articles on sake to domestic and international magazines. As part of our sake awareness activities, we hold the "Sake Professional Course'' every year in both Japan and the United States. This course attracts more participants than its capacity every time, contributing to the expansion of sake fans around the world. We have also developed products for learning about sake that can be downloaded anywhere in the world, such as the iPhone app "Sake Dictionary." Director of the Sake Export Association. Sponsored by the NPO SEA (Sake Education Council). He was appointed a "Sake Samurai'' in 2006, and was appointed "Yokoso Japan Ambassador'' in 2009. His published books include "Sake Handbook'' (Charles E.
