Bushido: The Soul Of Japan [Japanese-English Translation] (Japanese-English Translation)

Review(0)

Categories:Japanese Culture

The soul of Japan, which is proud to the world. Theodore Roosevelt, the president of the United States at the time, was one of those who read Bushido and was deeply moved by it. Definitive new translation with complete explanation. This is a masterpiece written by Nitobe Inazou, a well-known thinker and educator, who explains to the world the basis of the Japanese spirit on "Bushido,'' which is the core of Japanese moral values, while drawing on the spirit of Shinto, Buddhism, and Confucianism, and contrasting it with Western philosophy and chivalry. He wrote this book in English himself in an effort to make the Japanese people known throughout the world out of a sense of responsibility as a pre-war deputy secretary-general of the League of Nations, and it is still considered a must-read book when trying to understand the Japanese mind. Theodore Roosevelt, the president of the United States at the time, was one of those who read Bushido and was deeply moved by it.

Inazo Nitobe (author), Kenichiro Higuchi (translator), Mai Kokubun (translator)
