MASAHISA FUKASE - Masahisa Fukase

Review(0)

Categories:Creators' Artworks

[Scheduled to be reprinted in mid-January 2019]

Masahisa Fukase's long-awaited culmination.
40 years of pursuing privacy and play.

Masahisa Fukase is a photographer who has been active at the forefront of Japanese photography since the 1960s. However, due to an unexpected accident in 1992, its activities were shut down. While "Raven'' is passed down as a timeless masterpiece, most of his other works have lost the opportunity to be introduced.
This book provides an overview of the 40-year career of the mysterious photographer Fukase, revealing for the first time the full scope of his photographic expression.

Born in a family of photo studios in Hokkaido, he has explored photographic expression rooted in the perspectives of "privateness" and "playfulness" using a wide variety of methods. Photography was always at the center of his life, and his inner libido engulfed those around him and even led his own life toward ruin.
This book, the first definitive edition, organizes each work in chronological order, and carefully describes the intentions and background behind the production from the post-shoot notes and notes left in magazines by Fukase over 416 pages and 26 chapters.
Fukase's works, which have so far only been visible in fragments, emerge as a trajectory, attempting to essentially explore what he has been trying to see behind the camera throughout his life.

A chronology and major magazine contributions are included at the end of the book.
A large volume full of the richness and awesomeness of photographic expression that will be handed down to the future.
