The animated film version of "AKIRA'' was released in theaters in 1988 and revolutionized the world of anime beyond the realm of manga.
This book is the second volume of a two-volume compilation of a huge amount of storyboards drawn by the original author and director, Katsuhiro Otomo himself, in order to produce the anime version.
In addition to fully recording the second half of the four parts A, B, C, and D that make up the entire movie, the book also includes new elements such as previously unreleased cuts and commentary pages by the author himself.
Around 1987, the author was serializing the original manga version of "AKIRA'', but he stopped the serialization and started writing the storyboards for this book in order to make the movie version.The details of the mecha and backgrounds, as well as the dynamism of the characters, are drawn with the same level of tension as the serial, and are even better than the original manga version.

In 2013, received the Medal with Purple Ribbon from the Japanese government. In 2014, he was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government.
