Animation AKIRA Layouts & Key Frames 3 (OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS)
Categories:Creators' Artworks
The animated film version of Akira, which was released in theaters in 1988, went beyond the realm of manga and revolutionized the world of anime.
This book is the third (and final) volume of a three-volume collection of works drawn by Katsuhiro Otomo himself, who also served as the original author and director, from among the vast amount of layouts, original drawings, and original drawing corrections used in the production.
A layout is a drawing of the necessary information for each scene that makes up the main anime, and serves as a blueprint for drawing an anime.
In addition to recording the original drawings and layouts of "Part C (continuation from the previous volume) and Part D" of the four parts A, B, C, and D that make up the entire movie, it also includes valuable reproduction cels of many famous scenes created based on them.
Following the previously published "Storyboards 1 & 2,'' this book reveals in detail the production process of this still cutting-edge expression.
The movie version of "AKIRA'' was constructed through a thorough process in which the "layout'' that depicts the background and character movements of each cut is instructed and revised by the animation director, art director, and even director Otomo himself.
This is an unprecedented book in which you can experience the uncompromising quality of the screen creation by watching each page move in succession just by flipping through the pages.
Like the previous two volumes, this volume is almost entirely printed in color, and contains the largest number of duplicate cell pictures among all three volumes.
The large foldable page size is also the largest ever, with a total number of pages of approximately 675 pages.
As this is the final volume, an explanation by the author is also included at the end of the volume.
The book title "Layouts & Key Frames" is the English notation for "Layouts & Original Pictures."
*"OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS" Volume 25
*This book has a new structure that allows you to read and enjoy the movement of the animation from the end of the book to the beginning while flipping like a flip book and from the beginning to the opposite. For details, please refer to "How to read this manual" in this manual.
