Animation AKIRA Layouts & Key Frames 1 (OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS)
Categories:Creators' Artworks
The animated film version of Akira, which was released in theaters in 1988, went beyond the realm of manga and revolutionized the world of anime. This book is the first volume of a three-volume compilation of the vast amount of layouts, original drawings, and original drawing corrections used in the production of the anime version, drawn by Katsuhiro Otomo himself, who also served as the original author and director. A layout is a drawing of the necessary information for each scene that makes up the main anime, and serves as a blueprint for drawing an anime. In addition to the original drawings and layouts of the 4 parts A, B, C, and D that make up the entire movie, "the beginning of Part A and Part B,'' it also includes valuable reproduction cels of many famous scenes created based on these. One of the reasons why this work has rewritten the history of animated films and continues to fascinate the world to this day is its "amazing movement''.Following the two previously published "storyboard collections'', this work details the production process of this cutting-edge expression. The movie version of "AKIRA'' was constructed through a thorough process in which the "layout'', which depicts the background and character movements of each shot based on the art setting, is instructed and revised by the animation director, art director, and even director Otomo himself. Just by flipping through the pages, you can experience the greatness of the uncompromising screen creation as each screen moves in sequence. Almost the entire volume is printed in color, and includes many reproduction cell drawings, with a total page count of approximately 650 pages, making this an exceptionally well-made book. Furthermore, the book title "Layouts & Key Frames'' is the English notation for "Layouts & Original Pictures.''
