"Goodbye Japan'' is a series that depicts the incidents and turmoil that he gets caught up in as he rushes to collect disciples in New York, a city crowded with people who are diverse in everything: race, gender, lifestyle... "Goodbye Japan''.
This work, published by Futabasha in 1981 as Katsuhiro Otomo's third book, along with other works in the series, is the author's first "series series with the same protagonist.''
A collection of works that includes the title work (all 5 episodes) published in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine by the author when he was 23-24 years old from 1977 to 1978, and 8 short comics published before and after that time.
The breakdown of the short stories is 3 from "Highway Star'' (1979/Futabasha), 4 from "GOOD WEATHER'' (1981/Kitansha) including the title story, and 1 from "With Her Thoughts...'' (1990/Kodansha). A complete edition that reproduces the color pages as they were first published and includes commentary by the author himself!

About the author
Manga artist and film director. Born in Miyagi Prefecture.
Debuted in 1973 in "Manga Action". His representative works include "Domu'' and "AKIRA.''
In 1988, the animated film "AKIRA" that he produced received high praise outside of Japan and became the forerunner of the Japanese anime movement (Japanimation) overseas.
In 2013, received the Medal with Purple Ribbon from the Japanese government. In 2014, he was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government.
2015, 42nd Angoul?me International Comics Festival Grand Prize (France).
