Fire-Ball (OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS)
Categories:Creators' Artworks
A collection of 12 short comics created by Katsuhiro Otomo from 1978 to 1979 when he was 24 or 25 years old, in the order of publication. The following year, in 1980, on the eve of the author's talent becoming known to the world as he began to publish "Domu'' and "Kuki wa Momo War'', his numerous short stories, which were rapidly becoming more complete, changed their taste with each work, forming an astonishing polyhedron. In particular, the title work "Fire-Ball'' is an important work in which the author, who had previously focused on realistic human dramas, opened his eyes to the new genre of science fiction. The depiction of "superpowers'' that was directly connected to the later "Domu'' and "Akira,'' and the magnificent spectacle that completely changed his style, became a milestone for the author. The included works include 2 stories from "Short Piece'' (1979/Kisotengaisha), 4 stories from "Highway Star'' (1979/Futabasha), 3 stories from "GOOD WEATHER'' (1981/Kitansha), and 2 stories including the title story from "With Her Thoughts...'' (1990/Kodansha). In addition, the long-awaited short story "Distant Festival'', which has not been included until now, is included in the long-awaited first book. In addition, all colored manuscripts that were previously printed in monochrome in short story collections have been completely reprinted in color. The author's own commentary is also worth reading!
