G.... (OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS)

Review(0)

Categories:Creators' Artworks

A collection of works by Katsuhiro Otomo that includes 7 short comics and a series of double-page spread short comics, centered on two medium-length series serialized in 1979-1980 when Katsuhiro Otomo was 25-26 years old.
The title work "G...'', which depicts the battle of former German mercenaries involved in the civil war of a small African country, has not been published in book form until now, but it is a "phantom work'' that has finally been recorded in all four episodes (approximately 80 pages/unfinished). The depictions of ground battles and fighter planes in the film are spectacular, and it is a masterpiece that oozes the same drawing and directing skills that would later be seen in "Feeling War'' and "AKIRA.''
In addition, all four episodes of the novella "A Saint Comes to Town'', which depicts the turmoil and miracles caused by the visit of a famous jazz band from yesteryear to Japan, and the fairy tale parody series "Katsuhiro Otomo's Full of Nutrients!'', which was serialized in a two-page spread in the music magazine "Rockin' On'', are included.
The other short stories included are 2 from "Goodbye Japan'' (1981/Futabasha), 1 from "Hansel and Gretel'' (1981/Sony Magazines), 2 from "With Her Thoughts...'' (1990/Kodansha), and 2 from "SOS Great Tokyo Expedition'' (1996/Kodansha).
In addition, when the short story "DON QUIJOTE" was first recorded in the book, the left and right panels were swapped and it was changed to open on the right, but in this book, it was returned to the original manuscript format and read from the end on the left.
Also, all short stories that were in color when first published in the magazine are reproduced in the original color.
